What
is a BLAST Volunteer?
There
are different types of BLAST Volunteers. From directly working one-on-one
with a child or youth to assisting our organization with various events or
projects, almost anyone can help change the life of a child. BLAST Volunteers
include:
Academic Mentors
College student volunteers act as Academic Mentors working directly with one student or a group of students. They act as a supportive role model and assist children with literacy skills and homework. If you are a college student interested in becoming an Academic Mentor or need information about volunteering through one of your college courses (i.e. application, requirements, paperwork, etc.), click below.
Enrichment Mentors
College student volunteers work on specialized projects such as recreation, art, technology, & robotics. These volunteers are recruited through faculty partnerships in a variety of disciplines. Enrichment mentoring is a unique opportunity for college students to reinforce their classroom learning while providing engaging activities for children in after school programs.Community Helpers
Community members possess vast knowledge and resources. BLAST seeks community members who can bring special enrichment activities, resources, or professional/personal knowledge to kids. If you are interested in speaking to a group of students about your profession or in bringing enrichment activities to students, please email Leslie at leslie@lbblast.org.Interns
BLAST is always looking for voluntary interns to work in areas such as:
- After School Programming
- Special Events
- Marketing/PR
- Photography
- General Program/Office
