Northpointe After School Program
The BLAST after school program is located in North Long Beach at the Northpointe Apartment Homes. Staff, volunteers and community members provide academic support and quality enrichment activities in a fun and safe environment for residential youth.
The after school program addresses the need for a safe, supervised and constructive environment for children to go to after school. It is during these hours that youth run the highest risk for committing crimes or having crimes committed against them.
BLAST provides free services to families with the help and generous support of C.A.R.E. (Communities Advocating for Resident Empowerment) and the Las Palmas Foundation. Our committed and professional staff work to develop strong relationships with the community and Northpointe.
In addition to after school activities, Northpointe serves as a site for BLAST's Academic Mentoring Program along with many enrichment programs aimed at helping to shape healthy, creative and empowering values in the kids we serve. Some of these enrichment programs include our UC Links Technology Computer Lab, the Girl Power program sponsored by Soroptimist and CCG, Health Education sponsored by Molina HealthCare and a newly established organic garden sponsored by Youth Service America and United Health Heroes.
