Bridge to College

As a means to encourage and support high school youth on their journey to college, Bridge to College is BLAST's newest project aimed at not only increasing CAHSEE passing rates and actual graduate percentages but helping students through the college application process all the way through to their first of college.                                                                                                            

In addition to emphasizing higher education, Bridge to College will also teach life-skills necessary for life after high school.  The college mentors will help their high school-age mentee with a variety of things such as:  prepare for the S.A.T.s, complete the FAFSA, submit college applications, and apply for jobs. 

In the 2009 / 2010 school year, Bridge to College was implemented in conjunction with Operation Read and students visited colleges campuses that included Long Beach City College and California State University Long Beach.
