Long Beach BLAST would like to sincerely thank the sponsors, donors and attendees of our 4th Annual Breakfast BLAST event.
Also, take a look Shirley Wild's article from the Long Beach Press Telegram Honoring Outstanding Students (scroll towards bottom)
Thanks to your generosity, Breakfast BLAST 2011 raised over $53,000 to support BLAST's mentoring programs, which match college student volunteers with at-risk youth at 20 school and community sites in Long Beach.
It was BLAST's great honor to present Long Beach Police Chief and BLAST Board member, Jim McDonnell, to our 200 plus breakfast guests. Chief McDonnell reported on the state of youth in the city.
Guests were also able to hear, what working together as a team meant for CSULB graduate, Zach Russi and Lindbergh Middle School student, Patrick Griffin. The positive impact that it had on both young men was clear and profound.
Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster presented Zach and Patrick with an award for being BLAST's "Outstanding Mentor-Mentee Team of 2010-11."
